Join the PWI Electrification Engineering Diploma or PWI Track Engineering Diploma taking place in Derby in May.
Taught by rail industry professionals, these courses have been developed for both newly qualified and experienced engineers. They give delegates an understanding of the underlying theory, as well as an appreciation of the real-life challenges facing engineers.
Module 1 of the PWI Track Engineering Diploma gives delegates a basic understanding of track engineering and its theory and context. It develops knowledge of track types and features, its interfaces with other rail infrastructure including earthworks, structures and clearances and track maintenance including ballast, drainage, stressing, grinding and welding. The module explores the concept of the UK system, operations, timetables, and legislation.
Module 1 of the PWI Electrification Diploma gives delegates a knowledge of OLE system types and the interfaces with the pantograph. Attendees will gain an understanding of the essential interfaces with other rail infrastructure including earthworks, structures and clearances, as well as exploring inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair processes. By the end of module, delegates will understand the concept of the UK rail system, operations, timetables, and legislation.
PWI Technical Director, Brian Counter said: “We have started 2022 with a packed programme of PWI training and our team have been extremely busy welcoming over 150 delegates and achieving 96% pass rate. I’m delighted that Network Rail have endorsed the PWI Electrification Engineering Diploma as a key component for their Electrification and Plant graduate training programme. I always encourage trainees to progress towards professional status in electrification and track, and training is invaluable in gaining confidence to pass their professional reviews.”
Both the PWI Track Engineering Diploma and PWI Electrification Engineering Diploma are comprised of three consecutive modules and involve 100 hours of taught study all mapped to HE Level 6. Together with a short supplementary report, completing one of the Diplomas fills the academic gap to IEng for those with relevant HND or Foundation degree qualifications.
