Power Systems for Railway Applications

Careful planning, attention to detail and strong negotiation skills are vital when carrying out engineering works successfully, but one very important aspect often requires special attention.

That aspect is the obvious, but often overlooked matter of how to get to the work site, which often involves taking access over third party land and then once on site, how the project can be delivered with particular reference to the potential need or otherwise of acquiring permanent rights in land.

For us to work most effectively it is important that we are involved in the project from start-to-finish because advice on land law associated with drainage, proposed routes of access, land purchase or the acquisition of other permanent rights such as easements may in fact inform the design process.

DNI have developed strong working relationships with both Network Rail’s Engineers and Contractors in Western and Southern Territories over the last 7 years and are now pleased to be able to extend our services Nationally through recently awarded Framework Agreements. Indeed those who have experienced our proactive approach to problem solving and our commitment to the delivery of projects on time have benefitted substantially from the ‘added value’ we can contribute to a project.

But, it is not just the planned works on which we can help. We also provide support with reactive and emergency works, such as those associated with the recent flooding where we had staff on site across the Country as the crisis unfolded. Yet again our experience paid dividends as we deployed surveyors with local knowledge, experience of legislation surrounding the railway and in-depth understanding of engineering requirements to negotiate appropriate and timely access for Network Rails Engineering Teams.
